$12 - Mysterious Mushrooms, funky fungi. mystifying mycelium! Fungi are key players in maintaining tree growth and health - they live in a symbiotic relationship with the forest. Via an observation and collection hike and some "lab" work, we'll deconstruct and categorize different types of fungi and mushrooms and learn their importance. We'll even taste some of the more chose edibles. Join our naturalist and members of the New River Valley Mushroom Club - A Chapter of the N.A. Mycological Association.

Explore Park sits just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost 115 and covers a huge stretch of land along the river. There are over 14 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking, plus river access and things like the Treetop Quest zip lines. Twin Creeks Brewpub (Brugh Tavern) runs out there, which makes it easy to turn a day outside into a full hang session. You can camp in cabins, yurts, or go primitive, and most events lean into outdoor and seasonal programming at the Park but Brugh Tavern has a great outdoor stage for music.
