161st Birthday Celebration for J.B. Fishburn

Junius Blair Fishburn (1865-1955) was a prominent publisher, banker, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Working at the National Exchange Bank, he rose through the ranks to serve as the bank’s President. J.B. Fishburn was the co-founder and president of Times-World Corporation, which published The Roanoke Times and the Roanoke World News. An avid supporter of parks and recreation, he donated the land for six Roanoke Parks including Mill Mountain and Wasena Park. Upon his death in 1955, J.B. Fishburn left to the City of Roanoke his 42-room mansion, known as Mountain View.
