WILD about Warblers Bird Sit

Description

$5 - Join like-minded birders for a Bird Sit, birding without hiking. Whether you're new to birding or an experienced birder that's challenged by hiking - this activity is for you. Set up a chair and enjoy the birds; watch and listen to the birds that come to us. Learn about the birds that live in or pass through Explore Park on their migrations. Our forest and riverside location make us a great place to view a variety of birds including warblers. If needed, we'll help transport your supplies to our sit site. Information for participants: Bring a folding chair, binoculars if you have them, water and snack. Wear sunscreen and insect repellent, hat will be helpful.

More about Explore Park

Explore Park sits just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost 115 and covers a huge stretch of land along the river. There are over 14 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking, plus river access and things like the Treetop Quest zip lines. Twin Creeks Brewpub (Brugh Tavern) runs out there, which makes it easy to turn a day outside into a full hang session. You can camp in cabins, yurts, or go primitive, and most events lean into outdoor and seasonal programming at the Park but Brugh Tavern has a great outdoor stage for music.
