The Horsenecks are Gabrielle Macrae and Barry Southern. Based in Astoria, Oregon, they are two multi-instrumentalists who have come together from traditional music backgrounds and found a sound that weaves through layers of influence that include early Appalachian stringband music, classic country, bluegrass and original folk. A small-to-medium capacity nonprofit music venue on Kirk Avenue downtown, run by Down By Downtown Music. The building used to be Kirk Avenue Music Hall. Good sound design and acoustics. The acts are all over the board, from solo pickers to thrash\punk bands. Over 500 shows in nearly a decade. Helped launch Morgan Wade. Books local talent and national touring acts. Also does film screenings and private events.
