$10 - Rising during the darkest nights of the year, the Full Cold Supermoon of December 2026 arrives on December 23—just after the winter solstice and right before Christmas. Brighter and closer than a typical full Moon, it illuminates early winter skies while echoing ancient traditions tied to cold, snow, and long nights. Join us as we take a hike on the trails at Explore Park in the moonlight. Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather, wear sturdy hiking shoes, and feel free to bring a flashlight if you do not want to use one provided.

Explore Park sits just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost 115 and covers a huge stretch of land along the river. There are over 14 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking, plus river access and things like the Treetop Quest zip lines. Twin Creeks Brewpub (Brugh Tavern) runs out there, which makes it easy to turn a day outside into a full hang session. You can camp in cabins, yurts, or go primitive, and most events lean into outdoor and seasonal programming at the Park but Brugh Tavern has a great outdoor stage for music.
